The first was Fawdington BMW and now Hertford Mercedes Benz. Many dealerships suffer from lack of parking space and have little or no room for expansion. It’s therefore not surprising that a cost effective method of growing upwards instead of outwards is an attractive option.

Another key aspect is the speed of construction – days rather than months. Dealers don’t want their premises turned into a long term building site or their business will grind to a halt. I see that at Hertford the site access was only disturbed for a day. I wonder which other industries could benefit in the same fashion?
